The Varsity Blues women's hockey team beat the Brock Badgers 3-1 on Sunday (Oct. 23) afternoon in St. Catharines, Ont..
With their first win, the Blues finish the opening weekend of the 2022 OUA season with a 1-1 record.
HOW IT HAPPENED: Defense was key in the first period, with Blues goalie Madeline Albert and Badgers goalie Kenzie Harmison making 12 saves each through the period.
The Blues would open the scoring seven minutes into the second period when Aili McKeown scored. The Blues would come out flying doubling their lead 13 seconds later with a goal from Sophie Grawbarger.
Madelyn Walsh would finish the scoring for the Blues halfway through the second period with a powerplay goal.
Madeline Nicholson scored the lone goal for the Badgers with a minute to go in the second period.
UP NEXT: The Varsity Blues return to action Friday, October 28 when they faceoff against the TMU Bold. Puck drop is scheduled for 6 p.m.
