The Varsity Blues women's hockey team lost 4-2 to the Waterloo Warriors on Saturday (Oct. 22) afternoon in Waterloo, Ont.
The Blues start their 2022 OUA campaign 0-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Warriors opened the scoring halfway through the first period, with a goal from Keiara Raitt.
The Blues responded with a goal of their own six minutes into the second period with a goal from Lauren MacDonnell. Three minutes later, Emma Elders would score on the powerplay to give the Blues the lead. Waterloo would tie the game with six minutes to go in the second, with a goal from Paige Rynne.
Leah Herrfort would give the Warriors the lead a minute into the third period. Keiara Raitt would add her second of the game with five minutes to go.
Second-year defender Madelyn Walsh and third-year forward Natasha Athanasakos finished the game with an assist each.
Blues goalie Erica Fryer finished the game with 21 saves.
UP NEXT: The Varsity Blues return to action Sunday, October 23 when they faceoff against the Brock Badgers. Puck drop is scheduled for 2 p.m.
