BLUES FINISH REGULAR SEASON WITH WINS OVER OTTAWA

The Varsity Blues softball team beat the Ottawa Gee-Gee's 10-1 and 2-1 on Sunday (Oct. 16) afternoon in Ottawa, Ont.
 
With the wins, the Blues finish the 2022 OUS season with a 14-6 record.

Katie Humhej was the winning pitcher for the Varsity Blues. The pitcher allowed three hits and one run over five innings, striking out six and walking zero.
 
The Blues tallied five runs in the fourth inning.  Amelia Collet, Beth DeConinck, Mihret Eliasziw, and Erin Sullivan powered the big inning with RBIs.
 
Varsity Blues Softball hit the ball well today, racking up nine hits in the game.  Collet and Sullivan collected multiple hits for the Blues.  Collet led the Blueswith three hits in four at bats.
 
Rachel Matheson-Green took the loss for University of Ottawa Gee-Gees. The pitcher surrendered five runs on five hits over four innings, striking out one.

Katie Humhej started the game for the Blues. The righthander surrendered zero runs on zero hits over three innings, striking out six and walking one
 
Erin Sullivan pitched the final four innings. Sullivan allowed five hits and one run over four innings, striking out two and walking zero.
 
The Blues got things moving in the first inning, when Amelia Collet singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.
 
In the top of the fourth inning, University of Ottawa Gee-Gees tied things up at one.  
 
The Blues snagged a late lead and defeated the Gee-Gees 2-1.  The game was tied at one with the Blues batting in the bottom of the sixth when Amanda DeConinck singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.
 
Hartley took the loss for University of Ottawa Gee-Gees. The hurler allowed five hits and two runs over six innings, striking out five.
 
UP NEXT: The Blues head to Kitchener Ontario to play in the 2022 OUS Championships. They will play the University of Windsor on Saturday, October 22. First pitch is at 9 a.m.
