Returning to league play for the first time since their trip to the Canadian Collegiate Softball Association National Championship, the Blues earned a split on the road against the York Lions.
HOW IT HAPPENED: In the first of the two games, the Blues found themselves in an early hole. After York scored single runs in both the first and second innings, the Lions added on three more in the third to go out in front 5-0.
Looking to work their way back into the contest, the Blues cashed in a pair of runs in the top of the fifth on an Isabella Trakosas rbi fielder's choice and an Erin Sullivan rbi single.
However, Toronto was only able to generate one more hit in the final two innings, falling 5-2.
Making sure not to be swept, the Blues bats came to life in a big way during the night cap.
Â
Scoring in all five innings before the game came to an end, Toronto cruised to a 10-2 victory.
Â
The Blues jumped out in front with two runs in the first, another in the second and third innings, and then tallied two in the fourth and four more in the fifth. Erin Sullivan and Amelia Collet led the charge for Toronto with Sullivan going three for four with four rbi's and Collet finishing the game three for three with a pair of rbi's.
Â
On the mound, Sullivan allowed one earned run over three innings of work, before Katie Humhej entered the game and pitched two perfect innings, striking out all six batters she faced.
Â
UP NEXT: The Blues will have a quick turnaround as they head to Kingston, Ont., tomorrow for a doubleheader against the Queen's Gaels.
