A third period attack was not quite enough on Saturday afternoon for the Varsity Blues as they dropped a 3-2 exhibition contest against the TMU Bold at the Mattamy Athletic Centre.
HOW IT HAPPENED: It was the home time that would take the lead in the early stages scoring just over a minute into the game on a goal by Emily Baxter. Then book ending the opening frame, Baxter scored her second, this time with just over a minute to play in the period.
Leading 2-0, the Bold would hold that advantage through the second period and into the third.
Increasing the lead, Erika Crouse found the back of the net for TMU to make it 3-0. However, that is when the Blues began to battle back.
Midway through the period, Lauren MacDonnell put Toronto on the board, before Francesca Monte pulled the Blues within one just three minutes later.
Unfortunately for Toronto they were unable to find the equalizer.
In goal for the Blues, Erica Fryer made 18 saves on 21 shots.
UP NEXT: The Blues will continue their exhibition schedule at York on October 16.
