STRONG PITCHING NOT ENOUGH FOR BLUES; DROP DOUBLEHEADER TO TMU

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Paying a visit to the TMU Bold, the Varsity Blues lost a pair of low scoring games Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED: In game one, it was all about the pitching.

Getting the nod for the Blues, Kevin Angers threw six strong innings surrendering just one run on one hit and six walks, while striking out nine.

However, TMU starter, Callum Wilson threw a complete game shutout, allowing just three hits over seven innings of work.

In the latter of the two games, TMU jumped out to an early lead with two runs in the second inning. After adding singles in the fifth and sixth innings, the Bold carried a 4-0 lead into the seventh.

Doing their best to battle back, the Blues managed to bring the tying run to the plate in the top of the inning, but were only able to cash in one run in a 4-1 defeat.

UP NEXT: The Blues will host Laurier for a pair of games to wrap up their regular season schedule.
