University of Toronto Varsity Blues alumnae Alicia Brown, Gabriela DeBues-Stafford, Madeleine Kelly and Lucia Stafford have secured Olympic berths as Athletics Canada announced their national team for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games next month.

Fresh off another Canadian championship title, Brown will represent Canada in the 4x400m relay for the second straight Olympic Games. She helped Canada to a fourth-place finish in the relay and also finished 28th overall in the women's 400m at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.

Brown won the women's 400m in 51.96 seconds at the Olympic Trials last weekend. During her Varsity Blues career, Brown was awarded the Dr. Fred Tees Memorial Trophy as Athletic Canada's top Canadian university athlete of the year and was named U of T's T-Holder's female athlete of the year in 2012-13.

2012-13 was a breakthrough season for her as she won titles in the 300m at the OUA and U SPORTS championships, while also being named a top eight U SPORTS academic all-Canadian and U of T's top U SPORTS female scholar-athlete.

Although she did not compete at last weekend's Olympic Trials in Montreal, DeBues-Stafford earned her berth to Tokyo following an outstanding year on the track. She will look to improve upon her 25th place finish from Rio in 2016 in her signature 1500m event.

The Toronto native became the first Canadian woman to break two minutes in the 800m, four minutes in the 1500m and 15 minutes in the 5000m. She holds the Canadian records in the mile, 1500m and 5000m outdoors, as well as the mile and 5000m indoors. DeBues-Stafford is currently ranked fourth in the world in the women's 1500m.

The recent U of T grad is a four-time OUA all-star and U SPORTS all-Canadian was named the national track and field athlete of the year in 2015-16. She is a three-time OUA 1500m champion, two-time OUA 1000m champion and helped the Blues to two gold-medal finishes in the 4x800 relay. Nationally, she is a two-time 1500m champion, while also winning the U SPORTS 1000m and 3000m events once.

Gabriela's sister, Lucia Stafford, finished second in the women's 1500m at last weekend's Olympic Trials. As a Varsity Blue, Stafford was a cross country phenom, helping the Blues to the 2017 national title, while winning both championship races to be named OUA and U SPORTS female athlete of the year in 2019.

On the track, she is a four-time OUA all-star and three-time U SPORTS all-Canadian. She was named the winner of the 2018 Dr. Wendy Jerome Trophy as the OUA female most valuable performer and wrapped up her intercollegiate career as U of T's T-Holders' female athlete of the year and the OUA female athlete of the year across all sports in 2019-20.

Her last international appearance came with two fifth-place finishes in the 1500m and 4x400 relay at the 2019 FISU Summer Universiade in Naples, Italy.

Madeleine Kelly placed third in last Friday's women's 800m in Montreal, clocking a time of 2:00.30. As a Blue, Kelly was a member of one OUA and three U SPORTS  track and field championship teams, as well as one U SPORTS cross country championship team.
