BLUES SEASON DRAWS TO A CLOSE IN LONDON

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's soccer team dropped a narrow 1-0 decision to the Western Mustangs in OUA quarter-final action on Wednesday night (Nov. 3) in London, Ont.

The young Blues squad wraps up their 2021 campaign with a 6-4-1 record through the regular season and playoffs.

HOW IT HAPPENED: The Blues and Mustangs traded shots on net early in the match; however, it was the home team that would break the deadlock as third-year midfielder Natalie Abbate scored what would stand as the game-winner in the 40th minute.

Trailing by one in the final 20 minutes, the Blues put on the pressure, first with a shot from Abbey Munn that sailed high, followed by a corner kick from veteran Siena Porth.

Amelia Thompson also sent a shot just wide of the net in the 76th minute and fellow rookie standout Anne Yeoman's shot in the final minutes of the match was turned aside by Mustangs keeper Samantha St. Croix.

Fifth-year Blues netminder Levanta Staggolis made five saves in the loss.
