Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

BLUES FALL TO BADGERS

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's hockey team fell 2-1 to the Brock Badgers on Saturday night (Nov. 13) in St. Catharines.

The loss would be the second time the two sides lined up against each other this week.

HOW IT HAPPENED: The Blues opened the scoring late in the first as third-year forward David Thomson buried rookie forward Cole Purboo's rebound during the Blues powerplay.

Brock leveled the game 6:10 into the second through third-year forward Owen Guy who connected with fellow third-year forwards Jared Marino and Adam Berg on the Badgers powerplay. The remainder of the second period saw the two teams deadlocked despite nine of the remaining 14-minutes being played shorthanded by either one of the teams.

The Blues surged in the third period out-shooting the Badgers 10-to-8. However, it was the Badgers who broke the deadlock as fourth-year forward Aydon MacDonald combined with first-year forward D'Artagnan Joly and second-year forward Christian Girhiny 8:56 into the third.

Third-year netminder Alex Bishop made 34 saves in the loss.

UP NEXT: The Blues head to Thunder Bay, Ont., to take on the Lakehead Thunderwolves on Friday, November 19. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m.
