The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's hockey team fell 2-1 to the Brock Badgers on Saturday night (Nov. 13) in St. Catharines.
The loss would be the second time the two sides lined up against each other this week.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED:Â The Blues opened the scoring late in the first as third-year forward David Thomson buried rookie forward Cole Purboo's rebound during the Blues powerplay.
Brock leveled the game 6:10 into the second through third-year forward Owen Guy who connected with fellow third-year forwards Jared Marino and Adam Berg on the Badgers powerplay. The remainder of the second period saw the two teams deadlocked despite nine of the remaining 14-minutes being played shorthanded by either one of the teams.
Â
The Blues surged in the third period out-shooting the Badgers 10-to-8. However, it was the Badgers who broke the deadlock as fourth-year forward Aydon MacDonald combined with first-year forward
D'Artagnan Joly and second-year forwardÂ
Christian Girhiny 8:56 into the third.
Â
Third-year netminder Alex Bishop made 34 saves in the loss.
