The University of Toronto Varsity Blues baseball team defeated the host Laurentian Voyageurs 12-4 and Rams 16-1 on Day 1 of the OUA regional qualifier on Saturday (Oct. 9) in Sudbury, Ont.

The Blues take on the York Lions tomorrow morning at 9 a.m., in hopes of making the qualifier final at 4 p.m. The winner of this regional tournament will host the OUA Final Four next weekend.

Toronto 12, Laurentian 4
First-year pitcher Kevin Angers earned the win on the mound, going four and two third innings in shutout relief. The Blues amassed 14 hits in the victory.
Toronto 16, Rams 1

U of T jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning, added two more in the second, seven in the third and two in the fourth en route to the mercy win.

Veteran Dean Christidis earned the complete game win on the mound.
