BLUES DOWN LIONS

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues softball team defeated the York Lions 8-3 on Friday, October 8 at Dieppe Park.
 
York fired up the offence in the first inning, when Kylie Cowin singled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs; however, the Blues evened things up at 2-2 in the bottom of the second inning when Julia Kurzrock drove in two off a single.
 
Toornto pulled away for good with one run in the third inning as Jessica Tamayo singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run. The Blues scored three runs in the fourth inning, led by a triple by Beth DeConinck and an error on a ball put in play by Shilo Chislett.
 
Erin Sullivan took the win for the Blues, going seven innings, allowing three runs on seven hits, striking out nine and walking one.
 
DeConinck led Varsity Blues Softball with three hits in four at bats.

The Blues host the Queen's Gaels tomorrow at Dieppe Park at 12 p.m.
