BLUES SPLIT DOUBLEHEADER WITH RAMS

After suffering their first loss of the season, Katie Humhej threw a perfect game to lead the Varsity Blues softball team to a dominant win over the Rams on Saturday, October 2.  
 
Rams 6, Toronto 5
 
Despite a five-run deficit in the fourth inning, the Blues almost came all the way back, eventually falling 6-5 to the Rams.  Toronto scored four runs in the failed comeback. Erin Sullivan, Jessica Tamayo, and Beth DeConinck picked up RBIs to lead the rally.
 
Rachel Seguin took the loss for the Blues, allowing seven hits and six runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out two.
 
Tamayo led the Blues offensively, going 3-for-4 at the plate, in U of T's first loss of the season.
 
Toronto 7, Rams 0
 
Katie Humhej threw a gem in Game 2, allowing zero hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out 11 and walking none.
 
U of T secured the victory thanks to six runs in the first inning.  The rally was led by triples by Humhej and Janelle Hodge, a groundout by Amelia Collet, an error on a ball put in play by Beth DeConinck, and a double by Shilo Chislett.
 
UP NEXT: The Blues head to Ottawa to take on the Carleton Ravens tomorrow (Oct. 3) at 3 p.m.
