The University of Toronto Varsity Blues football team dropped a 35-11 decision to the No. 8 Queen's Gaels on Saturday, October 2 at Varsity Stadium.

TORONTO STATS: Fifth-year quarterback Clay Sequeira went 12-for-23 for 214 yards and one touchdown. His favourite target on the day was Will Corby, who had six catches for 156 yards and one major.

Second-year defensive back Keon Fuoco led all players with 8.5 tackles, while veteran linebacker James Greig had another big game with eight tackles and one sack in the loss.

HOW IT HAPPENED: The Gaels opened the scoring early in the first quarter as second-year defensive back Ethan Martin returned his interception 61 yards for a major. Nick Liberatore kicked a 2-yard field goal and Queen's held a 10-1 lead after 15 minutes of action.

The Gaels extended their lead with a James Keenan six-yard touchdown reception, safety and seven-yard Rasheed Tucker rushing major in the second quarter; however, the Blues found their groove late in the frame as Sequeira connected a 66-yard strike with 2019 all-Canadian Will Corby.

Third-year kicker Chris MacLean added a 35-yard field goal as the Blues trailed 26-11 at halftime.

After a scoreless third quarter, the Gaels rounded out the scoring with a Liberatore 17-yard field goal and a Tucker six-yard rushing TD.

UP NEXT: The Blues head to Ottawa to take on the Carleton Ravens next Friday, October 8. Kick off is set for 6 p.m.
