BLUES COMPLETE PERFECT 10-0 REGULAR SEASON

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues swept the Ryerson Rams with 8-4 and 5-0 victories on Saturday, October 2 at Dan Lang Field.
 
With the wins, the Blues complete a 10-0 regular season.
 
Toronto 8, Rams 4
 
The Blues stole the lead late and defeated Ryerson 8-4 on Saturday. The game was tied at 3-3 with U of T  batting in the bottom of the sixth, when an error scored one run for Toronto. The  Blues pulled away for good with three runs in the sixth inning.
 
Connor Broughtom led the Toronto to victory on the mound. The righty allowed two hits and one run over one and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking one. Grant Shantz and Luca Lombardi entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
 
Conall Helverson started the game for the Blues, lasting five and a third innings, allowing three hits and three runs while striking out three.
 
Maxwell Denison and Niko Kekatos each collected three hits to lead the Blues.
 
Toronto 5, Rams 0

 
Dean Christidis threw a gem on Saturday for U of T, allowing zero runs and besting Ryerson by a score of 5-0.
 
Christidis lasted all seven innings, allowing five hits and zero runs, while striking out 12 and walking zero.
 
Sam Castro-Rojano led U of T with two hits in two at bats.
 
UP NEXT: U of T travels to Sudbury, Ont., for an OUA regional qualifier this coming weekend (Oct. 9-10). Toronto will take on the host Laurentian Voyageurs, Rams and York Lions to battle for a spot in the OUA Final Four the following weekend.
