SILON SIGNS WITH MEN’S VOLLEYBALL FOR 2020-21

The University of Toronto men's volleyball program is pleased to announce that Nicolas Silon has accepted his offer of admission and committed to playing for the Varsity Blues beginning in the 2020-21 season.

A 6-foot-6 outside/middle from Belgium, Silon comes to the Blues from UWCSEA Dover, an international school in Singapore.

"Nicolas has very impressive physical qualities and comes from a volleyball background, where he started pursuing the sport at a very young age," said Varsity Blues head coach John Barrett. "Both his parents played volleyball in his native country of Belgium, where volleyball is an important and popular sport. We are ecstatic that Nicholas has chosen U of T to follow his academic and athletic dreams. I greatly look forward to seeing him don the Blue and White for the coming years."

Silon was named the most improved player in 2018 and most valuable player in 2019 on the Dover volleyball team and helped the squad to the division 1 title in South East Asia for the first time in Dover program history.

"I chose to commit to U of T because of the high level of academic education offered, the variety of sports opportunities given and lastly the impressive diversity of culture present at the college," said Silon. "I look forward to starting my academic journey at U of T and meeting the Varsity Blues volleyball team."

He will begin his studies in math and physical science within U of T's New College this fall.
