The Varsity Blues men's and women's basketball teams host the Ottawa Gee-Gees in the University of Toronto's annual Bell Let's Talk game this Saturday, January 25 at Goldring Centre for High Performance Sport.
The women start the action at 6 p.m., with the men to follow at 8 p.m. Advance tickets are on sale
here. Both games will also be streamed live on OUA.tv.
The Varsity Blues are one of 227 post-secondary institutions from every province and territory that are participating in the annual Bell Let's Talk campus campaign to promote student mental health. There are more than 500 events planned leading up to Bell Let's Talk Day on January 29.
Toronto's women are coming off a 1-1 weekend, where they came away with a thrilling 55-54 win at Waterloo before falling to the No. 5 Ryerson Rams at home.
Fourth-year forwards Sarah Bennett and Nada Radonjic lead the Blues, averaging 12.7 and 15.5 points per game, respectively. Bennett also ranks third in the province with 8.7 rebounds per game through 14 games this season.
The Blues men will look to get back into the win column this weekend. Third-year guard Evan Shadkami ranks 10th in the OUA, averaging 18.8 points per game. The Toronto native is coming off a career-high 35-point performance versus the Ryerson Rams last weekend.
