The No. 9 nationally-ranked University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's volleyball team defeated the Nipissing Lakers 3-1 (23-25, 29-27, 25-23, 26-24) on Friday, January 17 at Goldring Centre for High Performance Sport.

With the win, the Blues improve to 8-1 and remain atop the OUA East division standings. The victory also marks Toronto's fourth straight, all by scores of 3-1.

TORONTO STATS: Second-year left side hitter Evan Falardeau led all players with 19.5 points off of 18 kills and 1.5 blocks, while also notching a team-high 11 digs on the night.

Fifth-year veteran Chris Towe added 8.5 points, while rookie middle Benedikt Licht had six points and two digs.

Fourth-year setter Jordan Figueira tallied 41 assists and 10 digs, while third-year libero Daniel Tudor also had 10 digs in the win.

UP NEXT: The Blues are back in action next Friday, January 24 when they travel to Kingston, Ont., to take on the RMC Paladins. Opening serve is set for 8 p.m.
