The University of Toronto Varsity Blues softball team recorded two wins over the Carleton Ravens in Ottawa on Saturday September 21.

Toronto 9-3 Carleton
The Blues started off the weekend with a very convincing victory over the Carleton Ravens, beating them 9-3 in the first of two games against the Ravens.
In the first inning, Alison Feise got the offence started for the Blues, as she singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run. The Blues then scored two more in the first inning, taking a 3-1 lead at the end of the first to assert themselves early.
With the score at 5-3 in favour of Toronto coming into the seventh inning, the Blues finished the game strong, scoring four runs to seal the win. Samantha Cotton, Erin Sullivan, and Beth DeConinck each had RBIs in the deciding inning.
Cotton went seven innings, allowing three runs on nine hits, striking out four and walking one.
The Blues tallied 15 hits during the game, with Jessica Tamayo, Shawnee Rizqa, Kristen Naidu, Alison Feise and Beth DeConinck all starring as the Blues got off to a winning start in Ottawa.

Toronto 10-7 Carleton
Following the earlier victory, the Blues sunk Carleton once again, with Jessica Tamayo leading the way in a 10-7 win.
The Blues fired up the offence in the first inning, when Kristen Naidu singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run. The Blues finished the inning up 3-0, putting them in control early on.
With Toronto up 6-0 coming into the sixth inning, Carleton then fired back and closed the gap to one, as they scored five runs in the sixth inning to put the Blues under pressure.
Toronto then put the game further out of Carleton's reach, scoring four more in the same inning, with the Blues up by five coming into the seventh inning.
Carleton only scored two runs in the seventh, which ended the game 10-7 in Toronto's favour, sealing their second straight win over the Ravens on the day.
Aurora Nowicki took the win for University of Toronto Varsity Blues. She surrendered zero runs on two hits over five innings. Alexandra Pennell threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.
The Blues racked up 14 hits over the course of the game, with Jessica Tamayo going 4-4 at the plate to lead the Blues in hits.
