The University of Toronto Varsity Blues softball team went 1-1 against the Ryerson Rams on Saturday September 14, recovering from an early defeat to win their second matchup of the day.

Ryerson 6-2 Toronto
In the first of two games, the Varsity Blues dropped a 6-2 decision to the Ryerson Rams. The Blues lost despite out-hitting the Rams eight to seven.
Ryerson scored all six runs during the second inning, leaving the Blues with work to do for the duration of the game.
The Blues narrowed the margin in the sixth inning, scoring twice. Ultimately, Ryerson took the victory after a scoreless seventh inning.
Jessica Tamayo and Erin Sullivan led the team with two hits each during the game.

Toronto 4-2 Ryerson
The Blues snagged a late lead and defeated the Ryerson Rams 4-2, bouncing back from the earlier loss. The game was tied at two with the Blues batting in the top of the seventh, when Kristen Naidu singled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs.
Ryerson got on the board in the first inning when Olivia Stelmachowicz singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.
The Blues then evened things up at two in the top of the fifth inning. Beth DeConinck singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.
Samantha Cotton earned the victory in the pitcher's circle for the Blues. She went seven innings, allowing two runs on six hits, striking out seven and walking zero.
The Blues collected ten hits. Kristen Naidu and Anna Laird both managed multiple hits over the course of the game. Naidu led University of Toronto Varsity Blues with three hits in four at bat.

UP NEXT: The Blues travel to Ottawa next weekend to take on the Carleton Ravens on Saturday September 21, and the Ottawa Gee-Gees on Sunday September 22.
