SMITH EARNS SECOND BRONZE MEDAL AT WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's swimming standout Rebecca Smith was a member of Canada's bronze-medal winning 4x200 freestyle relay team on Thursday night at the FINA World Championships in Gwangju, South Korea.

It marked Smith's second bronze medal of the meet, after also helping the 4x100 freestyle relay team to a third-place finish on Day 1.

The Red Deer, Alta., native swam in the preliminaries for both races to help Canada qualify for the finals each night.

Smith, who enters her second year as a life science major at U of T this fall, also finished 10th in the 100 butterfly at the championships.

The eight-day meet continues through Sunday at the Nambu University Municipal Aquatics Center.
