The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's basketball team fell 81-79 to the York Lions on Saturday, February 16 at Goldring Centre for High Performance Sport.
HONOURING OUR GRADS: U of T honoured graduating players Nicholas Morris and Nikola Paradina in a special pre-game ceremony tonight.
TORONTO STATS: Fourth-year forward Daniel Johansson notched a career-high 25 points and completed the double-double with 10 boards on the night.
Sophomore guard Evan Shadkami also tallied a game-high 25 points, while veteran Chris Barrett had 10 points, six assists and three boards in the loss.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Blues build a 25-17 lead after the first quarter and maintained an eight-point advantage at halftime (39-31). The Lions rallied and brought the game within one (58-57) heading into the final frame.
With the Blues trailing 80-76 in the dying seconds, Shadkami drained a three to bring the game within one, but that was all U of T could muster as they dropped the two-point contest. Â
