WOMEN’S HOCKEY SIGNS MONTE, POTTER TO 2020-21 ROSTER

The University of Toronto women's hockey program is pleased to announce that Mississauga Junior Hurricanes defencemen Francesca Monte and Emma Potter have signed their letters of intent and committed to play for the Varsity Blues beginning in the 2020-21 season.

A 5-foot-10 defenceman from Oakville, Ont., Francesca Monte will come to U of T after graduating from Abbey Park H.S., where she is volunteer coach of the varsity hockey team. She has earned the proficiency award for the highest overall average in her grade in 2017, 2018 and 2019.

"I chose U of T because it is a world-renowned university and I love being in downtown Toronto," said Monte. "I love playing hockey and I am very excited to have the opportunity to wear the Varsity Blues jersey."

Emma Potter, a 5-foot-1 defenceman from Angus, Ont., joins U of T from St. Peter's C.S.S., where she has earned most valuable player honours on the hockey and flag football teams.

"I chose U of T because of the strong athletic and academic programs," said Potter. "Also because the location of the school is in Toronto. I am looking forward to playing university hockey and being a part of the team, meeting new people and being in a new environment."
Students who sign a letter of intent and/or commit to Varsity Blues intercollegiate teams will be eligible to play at the University of Toronto provided they are academically admissible and have applied through the normal process with the Ontario Universities Application Centre.
