The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's hockey team fell 4-2 to the Brock Badgers on Saturday (Jan. 10) night at Varsity Arena.
The Blues got off to a strong start in the game, controlling possession in the offensive zone. In the third period, Toronto wasted no time to jump back into the fight. Third-year forward Abby Whitworth answered the call with her league-leading 13
th goal of the season. The Port Moody, B.C., native pounced on the puck in the slot and fired a shot past Thiessen to cut the deficit to one-goal. In net, third-year goalie Carlee Vance stood tall in the third period to keep the Blue and White in the game as they looked for an equalizer. Fighting hard until the very end, the Blues weren't able to get a third goal past Thiessen and Avery Diljee added an empty net goal to earn the victory.
Vance made 22 saves for U of T.
