The No. 4 nationally-ranked Blues women (6-1) are coming off two 3-2 road victories this past weekend at McMaster and Brock. They will square off versus the No. 1 Rams, who sit two points ahead of the Blues with a perfect 7-0 record in the OUA East division.
Ryerson edged Toronto 3-2, and 15-13 in the fifth set, in their first meeting of the season on Oct. 26, setting up what is sure to be a heated battle on Friday night.
The red-hot Blues, who are currently riding a six-game winning streak, have been led by fifth-year right side hitter Alina Dormann. The Ottawa native ranks fourth in the province, averaging 4.0 points per set.
U of T also has some serious depth in their lineup this season. Middles Jenna Woock and Anna Licht, as well as fifth-year left side hitter Caleigh Cruickshank all average over 2.4 points per set.
The No. 9 Blues men sit atop the OUA East division standings with a 5-1 record. Toronto suffered their first loss of the season to the No. 4 Marauders on Saturday, but bounced back with a big 3-1 win at Brock on Sunday.
The Rams are 4-2 and sit two points back of the Blues in the OUA East division. Toronto took Game 1 of the season series, 3-1, at Ryerson on Oct. 26.
Two of the top outside hitters will go toe-to-toe on Saturday night. U of T's Evan Falardeau ranks fourth in the province, averaging 3.82 kills and 4.3 points per set, while Ryerson's Xander Ketrzysnki leads all players with 4.83 kills and 5.9 points per set.
Fourth-year veteran Jordan Figueira quarterbacks the Blues offence and ranks second among OUA setters averaging 936 assists per set.
