BLUES FALL TO NO. 1 LIONS IN SEMIFINALS

The No. 7 University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's soccer team dropped a 2-0 OUA semifinal decision to the No. 1 York Lions on Friday, November 1 at Alumni Field.

The Blues cap off their 2019 season against the Guelph Gryphons in the OUA bronze-medal match tomorrow at 2 p.m.

HOW IT HAPPENED: The Blues had a good chance to open the scoring in the eighth minute of the match, but Nikola Stakic's penalty kick rang off the post to keep the game deadlocked.

The Lions got on the board in the 34th minute as Jorgo Nika scored off a corner opportunity. York led 1-0 at the half.

The Blues battled hard and put on the pressure, but the Lions added an insurance marker as Omar Marzouk scored in the 83rd minute, sending a booming shot into the bottom right corner of the net.

Blues goalkeeper Stefan Dusciuc made one save in the loss.
