BLUES FALL TO GRYPHONS IN OUA FINAL

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues field hockey team were silver medalist after falling to the No. 1 seeded Guelph Gryphons in the OUA Field Hockey Championship Final on Sunday, October 27 at Guelph University. The Blues had earned the bronze medal the past two years (2017, 2018).

FROM HEAD COACH CASS MENDONCA: "I think in the first half we dominated, in the second half they came back. I think when they scored their goal we didn't pass the ball around enough to get back into the rhythm of things. We wanted this bad, we worked hard."

HOW IT HAPPENED: The Blues dominated a defensive first half as both teams locked at zero.

Guelph controlled the third quarter, where the Gryphon's Katherine Macmillian's lone shot on goal was the deciding factor (60').
Despite a late surge from the Blues in the final six minutes, the Gryphon's would hold their lead.

Veteran goalie Liz O'Hara made two saves in the contest.
