The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's volleyball team defeated the Ryerson Rams 3-1 (25-16, 32-30, 20-25, 25-23) in their 2019-20 season opener on Saturday night (Oct. 26) at Mattamy Athletic Centre.
TORONTO STATS: Four Varsity Blues reached double-digit points on the night. Sophomore standout Evan Falardeau recorded a team-high 14 points off of 13 kills and one ace, while also adding four digs. Fifth-year veteran Chris Towe added 13.5 points off of 13 kills and an assisted block and had five digs.
Fourth-year outside hitter Alex Barnes tallied 12 points off of 10 kills and two aces, while rookie middle Jasper Neale had 11 points off of nine kills and two blocks.
Veteran setter Jordan Figueira notched 46 assists and six digs, while rookie Benedikt Licht had a game-high four blocks in the win.
UP NEXT: The Blues are back in action next Friday, November 1 as they travel to Peterborough, Ont., to take on the Trent Excalibur. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
