CHAO SCORES LATE AS BLUES BLANK RAMS

The No. 6 University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's hockey team defeated the Ryerson Rams 2-0 in a School Day Game on Wednesday, October 23 at Mattamy Athletic Centre.

With the win, the Blues improve to 3-0-0 in the early goings of the 2019-20 regular season.

HOW IT HAPPENED: With the game scoreless after 40 minutes, fifth-year defenceman Cristine Chao scored off a booming shot from the point with just 1:14 remaining in the game. Mathilde De Serres then added an insurance marker, scoring on the Rams empty net with 13 seconds remaining.

Third-year netminder Madeline Albert made 22 saves, including 11 in the first period, in her second shut out victory of the season.

UP NEXT: The Blues host the Windsor Lancers in their 2019 home opener this Saturday, October 26 at Varsity Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m.
