The No. 10 University of Toronto Varsity Blues suffered their first loss of the season, dropping a 3-1 decision to the No. 4 Ryerson Rams on Sunday afternoon (Sept. 2) at Varsity Stadium.
How it happened: The Blues continued their score-first trend. It only took third-year striker Michael Matic 27 seconds to push Toronto to the early lead. The Rams evened things up in the eighth minute, thanks to an Abdallah El-Chanti penalty shot goal. Andrew Diaz scored in the 25th minute to hand the visiting team the lead for good. Ryerson's Arya Hemanti added an insurance marker in the 57th minute to seal the deal.
UP NEXT:Â The Varsity Blues host another Top 10 U SPORTS team in the No. 5 Carleton Ravens next Saturday, September 8 at Varsity Stadium. Game time is set for 3:15 p.m. Â
