ALVAREZ TO JOIN BLUES IN 2018-19

The University of Toronto men's basketball program is pleased to announce that Inaki Alvarez has accepted his offer of admission and committed to play for the Varsity Blues beginning in the 2018-19 season.

"Inaki has the potential to be a high-level dynamic guard at the U SPORTS level," said Varsity Blues head coach John Campbell. "He is a tremendous competitor who has excellent court vision and an ability to get to the rim."

A 6-foot-2 point guard, Alvarez joins the Blues from St. Michael's College School. Originally from Altafulla, Spain, he was named an Ontario Catholic classic all-star, as well as the most valuable player at the Heinbuch Classic and Snowball Classic tournaments.

"I like the idea of being able to stay in the city, with the many opportunities that being in Toronto presents," said Alvarez. "I also got to spend some time with the team and really liked the way they welcomed me even before I committed and the vibe surrounding the team."

Alvarez has accepted his offer to study humanities at St Michael's College starting this September.
