BLUES DROP NARROW PLAYOFF DECISION IN SUDBURY

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's basketball team fell 85-80 to the Laurentian Voyageurs in OUA playoff action on Wednesday, February 21 in Sudbury, Ont.

With the loss, the Blues 2017-18 campaign comes to an end.

Toronto got out to a 25-22 lead after the first quarter, but the Voyageurs battled back to take a narrow 40-36 lead into halftime.

The Blues continued to trail by four after an even third quarter, but then a 12-0 run for the Voyageurs put the game out of reach for U of T. Toronto attempted to rally and brought it back within five, but time expired before they could complete the comeback.

Third-year forward Daniel Johansson led the Blues with 17 points and eight boards, while rookie guard Evan Shadkami posted 16 points, four steals and four rebounds on the night.

Fourth-year guard Sage Usher tallied 15 points and matched his career-high with nine assists, with fifth-year guard Reilly Reid adding 14 points and three assists in the loss.

Five Voyageurs hit double digits on the night, with David Aromolaran leading all players with 19 points in the win.
