The University of Toronto Varsity Blues notched a big 14-5 semi-final victory over the Carleton Ravens on Day 2 of the 2018 NCWP championship at Varsity Pool.
The Ottawa Gee-Gees scored six fourth-quarter goals to upset the No. 2 seeded Queen's Gaels, 11-10, in the first semifinal of the day. Toronto will square off versus Ottawa in the championship final tomorrow at 12:45 p.m.
The top-seeded Blues led from start to finish, building a 4-1 lead after the first quarter. Emma Brezoczky scored a hat trick to lead a 5-2 second-quarter effort for the Blues as the home team took a 9-3 lead into halftime.
Brezoczky and Rhianna Wood each scored a game-high four goals, while Caitlyn Tiedje notched two on the day. Katie Smith, Alicia Vas, Sarah Wentling and Daniela Freeman added one goal apiece in the win.
Carleton was led by Alicia Morewood's two-goal performance. Carley Paquette, Rachel Howes and Case Langevin also scored in the loss.
