The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's hockey team dropped a 1-0 decision to the Waterloo Warriors, on Saturday night (Dec. 1) at Varsity Arena.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Blues came out hot pressuring the Warriors for a majority of the first period, but it was Nick Chyzowski who opened the scoring for Waterloo, rifling a shot past Blues netminder, Alex Bishop, to put them up 1-0. The score would remain that way into the first intermission.
The second period was a complete deadlock. Both teams had multiple chances throughout the period, however, the goaltenders had other plans as they held their opponents at bay. Waterloo took their 1-0 lead into the third period.
The final frame saw the Blues dominate play offensively as they threw everything but the kitchen sink at the Warriors, trying to tie the contest. Toronto more than doubled up Waterloo in shots, 12-5, in the third but could not find the back of the net.
Bishop posted 22 saves in the loss.
UP NEXT: The Blues will return to action in the New Year when they travel to cross-town rival, York on Friday, January 4. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
