Five players hit double digits as the University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's basketball team defeated the Guelph Gryphons 99-92 on Saturday, November 3 at the Athletic Centre Sports Gym.
TORONTO STATS: Second-year guard Evan Shadkami led the Blues for the second straight night, going 6-for-11 from the floor, 4-for-8 from beyond the arc and 6-for-9 from the free throw line en route to to a team-high 22 points.
Veteran forward Daniel Johannsson had 15 points, five assists and four boards, while Chris Barrett also had 15 points. Nik Paradina added 13 points and three boards, while Rookie Inaki Alvarez chipped in with 10 points in the win.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The two teams were evenly matched throughout the whole game, with neither squad holding more than a six point lead through the first three quarters. Shadkami scored U of T's first nine points of the fourth quarter, including back-to-back three's, to put the game out of reach.
UP NEXT: The Blues return to action next Friday, November 9 as they travel to Waterloo, Ont., to take on the Laurier Golden Hawks. Tip off is set for 8 p.m.
