The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's water polo team hosts the 2018 NCWP championship, November 30 – December 2, at Varsity Pool.
As the No. 1 seed, the Blues receive a bye into Saturday's semifinal round, where they will face the winner of the Carleton/McMaster quarter-final at 1:45 p.m. The championship will conclude with the gold-medal game on Sunday at 12:45 p.m.
Toronto has dominated the provincial scene, winning the last five championship titles. 2018 has been no different, as the Blues have gone a perfect 6-0 against Ontario competition, outscoring their opponents by a combined 61-10 in those games.
Sara Sutherland has shone through her rookie season with the Blues. The native of Regina, Sask., has led U of T in scoring, netting 20 goals in six games versus Ontario teams. Fellow Western Canadian Rhianna Wood (Calgary) has provided solid secondary scoring with 11 goals in those same games.
The Blues are backstopped by third-year netminder Rachael Jaffe of Irvine, Cali., who spent time with the Canadian senior national team and is the reigning NCWP most valuable goalie.
