The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's basketball team fell 95-84 to the Windsor Lancers on Saturday (Nov. 24) night at the Athletic Centre Sports Gym.
TORONTO STATS: Fourth-year wing Nikola Paradina recorded a team-high 20 points, 12 rebounds, three steals and a block. Inaki Alvarez chipped in with 20 points of his own.
Evan Shadkami registered 16 points, while fourth-year forward Daniel Johansson stat line was nine points, 12 rebounds and a game-high five assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED: Paradina got things rolling for the Varsity Blues early, draining 11 points. Thanks to that, Toronto led 21-15 after the opening 10 minutes. The Lancers opened the second quarter on a 9-2 run to regain the advantage. Toronto went on to be outscored 28-15 in the frame and were down 43-36 at halftime
Alvarez and Shadkami scored 11 and 10 points, respectively, out of the half, but the Blues still faced a seven-point deficit, 70-63, heading into the fourth. U of T started the final frame on a 7-0 run to tie the contest at 70-70 but unfortunately, Windsor pulled ahead to secure the victory. Â
UP NEXT: The Varsity Blues head north next week to play their final game of 2018 against the Lakehead Thunderwolves on Saturday (Dec. 1). Tip off is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
