THUNDERWOLVES GET PAST BLUES

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's hockey team fell 5-1 to the Lakehead Thunderwolves on Friday night (Nov. 2) at Varsity Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED: The Thunderwolves got off to the early start as a speedy Scott Gall found the top corner of the net to open the scoring midway through the first period. Lakehead took a 3-0 lead after Tomas Soustal scored his first career OUA goal and Daniel Del Paggio tallied another in the final five minutes of the opening period.

Lakehead forward Dexter Kuczek padded the visitor's lead as he got behind the Toronto defence and went high glove side midway through the second period. The Blues got on the board a couple minutes later when Evan MacEachern was able to beat Thunderwolves goalie Devin Green on the powerplay.

Lakehead regained the four-goal advantage in the third as Jordan Larson tipped in Caleb Boman's point shot with less than seven minutes left.

Blues goalie Alex Bishop made 18 saves in relief of Frederic Foulem.

UP NEXT: The Blues and Thunderwolves play the second of a doubleheader tomorrow night (Nov. 3) at Varsity Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
