BLUES DROP PRE-SEASON TILT WITH GOLDEN BEARS

Fourth-year guard Chris Barrett recorded a team-high 17 points but the University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's basketball team dropped an 81-72 decisoin to the Alberta Golden Bears in pre-season action on Friday night (Oct. 5) at the Athletic Centre Sports Gym.

HOW IT HAPPENED: Barrett went 3-for-8 from the floor and 10-for-11 from the free throw line, while adding two boards and one assist on the night. Rookie guard Inaki Alvarez notched 10 points and a game-high four steals, while sophomore Evan Shakami had nine points in the loss.

Alberta was paced by Brody Clarke's 20 points and 15 boards on the night.

UP NEXT: The Blues take on Marywood University from Scranton, Penn., next Saturday, October 13 at Redeemer University College in Ancaster, Ont. Game time is set for 2 p.m.
