The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's volleyball team fell 3-0 (16-25, 21-25, 19-25) to the No. 4 nationally ranked McMaster Marauders on Friday night (Oct. 26) at the Athletic Centre Sports Gym.
TORONTO STATS: First-year left side hitter Evan Falardeau tallied a team-high 9.5 points off eight kills and 1.5 blocks.
Third-year outside hitter Nicholas Trewern finished with seven points from seven kills, and addedthree digs on the night.
Veteran setter Jordan Figueira tallied 24 assists and added a team-high eight digs in the loss.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Blues opened the match with some back and forth play against thesix-time reigning OUA champion Marauders, trailing 16-10 at the technical timeout, before giving up the first set 25-16.
Toronto kept the second set close in a back-and-forth battle, but still trailed 16-14 at the technical timeout. The Marauders took a 2-0 match lead with a 25-21 second set victory.
In the third set, the Marauders got ahead early. Toronto trailed 16-13 at the technical timeout but could not come back, falling 25-19..
UP NEXT: The Blues are back on the court tomorrow (Oct. 27) as they host the Brock Badgers. Opening serve is set for 8:00 p.m., at the Athletic Centre Sports Gym.
