Box Score The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's basketball game fell 66-44 to the No.4 Carleton Ravens on Saturday night (January 6) at the Ravens Nest.
Without leading scorer Keyira Parks in the lineup, the Blues struggled to find their rhythm against the nation's best defence. After the first half, they trailed the Ravens 41-23.
After the break, U of T started the third quarter on a 9-2 run to narrow the deficit to just 11 points. Unfortunately they weren't able to hold down Carleton's high-octane offence for an extended period, especially on the glass as they were out-rebounded 50-22.
For the second straight night, freshmen Christine Jurcau led the team with 12 points, while fellow freshmen Sara Knowles recorded a career-high nine points on the night.
On the other side, Heather Lindsay led the way with a double-double of 11 and 10. In the process the fifth-year student hit one thousand career points.
Toronto record slips to 4-8, while Carleton continues to hold the best record in U SPORTS at 12-0.
The Blues continue their four-game road trip to start 2018 next week when they head up north. Up first are the Nipissing Lakers (2-8) on Friday night (January 12). Action starts at 6:00 p.m., at the Robert J Surtees Student Athletic Centre.
