Box Score The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's volleyball team dropped a narrow 3-1 (17-25, 25-15, 26-25, 19-25) decision to the Queen's Gaels on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 27) at Goldring Centre for High Performance Sport.

With the loss, the Blues drop to 8-4 and drop into third place, while the Gaels improve to 9-3 and move into second place in the OUA East division.
Third-year right side hitter Alina Dorman led the Blues with 11 kills and three aces in the match. Second-year outside hitter Emma Armstrong put up a team-high 11 digs, while adding seven kills on the day.
Rookie setter Rayn Perry tallied 28 assists and six digs in the loss.
The Blues got out to an early 5-2 lead in the first set, but the Gaels responded with a 10-3 streak and would take a 16-11 advantage into the first set technical timeout. U of T attempted to make up ground, but Queen's took a 1-0 match lead with a 25-17 first-set victory.

The second set began as a back-and-forth battle, but some nice work at the net by Woock and Dormann and a final ace by Woock saw the home team with a 16-12 lead at the technical timeout. The Blues ended the set on a 12-4 run and, with a final kill by Feore, evened the match, 25-15.

It was close to start the third set but the Gaels built a slight advantage with a 5-2 streak heading into the technical timeout (16-11). Queen's pulled away and took a 2-1 lead with the 25-16 set victory.

The Blues and Gaels were tied at 8-8 early in the fourth set, but Queen's went on an 8-2 streak to take a 16-10 lead at the technical timeout. The two teams went back and forth but the Gaels closed out the match with a 25-19 win.
Queen's veteran Shannon Neville recorded double-digit kills for the fifth straight match with a game-high 15. Julia Wiercigroch posted 20 digs and chipped in with 13 kills in the win.
The Varsity Blues are back in action tomorrow as they host the RMC Paladins at Goldring Centre. Opening serve is set for 1 p.m.
