NO. 1 BLUES DELIVER WIN IN MILESTONE NIGHT FOR MANDRYK

Box Score The No. 1 University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's volleyball team delivered a quick sweep of the visiting Waterloo Warriors on Friday night (Feb. 24) at Goldring Centre for High Performance Sport. Set scores were 25-10, 25-18, 25-20.

With the straight-sets victory, the Varsity Blues remain perfect on the season at 18-0.

For U of T fifth-year setter Madeylyn Mandryk, the night served as a showcase for her consistent excellence as a Varsity Blue as she surpassed 2,000 career assists with 33 on the night to push her career total to 2,016 with one game remaining in the OUA regular season. Mandryk also led the Blues in the Friday night matchup with a game-high 13 digs.

Toronto cruised through the opening two sets, defensively shutting down the Warriors attack and setting up strong offensive opportunities on which the Blues capitalized.

In the third, the Warriors found a groove and jumped out to an early lead but Toronto would respond making a final run for the three-set sweep.

Alina Dormann led all players on the night with a game-high 22 points on 19 kills, one service ace, and two blocks, while adding six digs.

Third-year left side Anna Feore and first-year standout Brianna Patrick also produced double-digit points in the convincing victory picking up 10 apiece.

The Varsity Blues will now wrap up the regular season versus the Guelph Gryphons tomorrow evening (Feb. 25) at Goldring Centre. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
