FOOTBALL TO BATTLE RAVENS ON THE ROAD

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues football team hits the road to take on the Carleton Ravens this Saturday, October 14 at 1 p.m.

U of T enters the match with a 1-5 record, while the Ravens are just above Toronto sitting at 2-4. The Varsity Blues holds a 7-5-0 (W-L-T) record all-time versus Carleton dating back to their first matchup in 1971.

Second-year quarterback Clay Sequeira will look to improve upon his first OUA start last week where he amassed over 200 yards of offence through the air and on the ground against a very stout McMaster defence. The dual-threat pivot has been successful when the Blues have spread things out, providing the option to run in space or find one of several young targets.

First-year receivers Will Corby (20 REC – 314 YDS) and Jaykwon Thompson (17 REC – 300 YDS), along with second-year inside receiver Nick Stadnyk (18 REC – 215 YDS) continue to guide Toronto's youthful aerial attack.

Defensively, third-year defensive halfback Nick Hallett has been a tackling machine, ranking second in the province in solo tackles and fourth in tackles per game. The aggressive defender has been aided by second-year safety Austin Rosbrook (31 TOT) and a pair of athletic linebackers in Paul Kozachuk (27.5 TOT) and Lamar Foyle (25 TOT).

The physical defenders will be leaned upon to stop a strong Ravens rushing attack led by running back Nathan Carter. The Carleton running back currently leads the OUA in rushing yards (845) and yards per game (140.8), which has included two games with over 250 yards.

Following their final road game of the season, the Blue and White will return home to Varsity Stadium for their regular season finale against the visiting Queen's Gael's. The Varsity Blues will honour their graduating players prior to kickoff, which is scheduled for 1 p.m.
