Box Score The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's basketball team outscored the Guelph Gryphons 49-31 in the second half en route to a 77-66 victory on Friday night (Jan. 6) at Goldring Centre for High Performance Sport.

With the win, the Blues improve to 6-3Â and remain in second place in the OUA East, while the Gryphons drop to 3-4 and sit second in the Central division.

Fifth-year forward Devin Johnson led all players with a double-double of 23 points and 10 boards, while second-year forward Daniel Johansson had 17 points on the night.

Third-year guard Sage Usher tallied 13 points, while Reilly Reid notched a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds, and added three assists and two steals in the win.

A low-scoring first quarter saw Toronto build an 11-8 lead. Â Guelph opened the second frame on a 12-2 streak and held a 35-28 advantage at halftime.

The Blues rallied and started the second half on a 10-2 run, with an Usher three regaining the U of T lead (38-37). Toronto continued to press and, highlighted by a Sahota dunk, outscored Guelph 25-9 in the third quarter to take a 53-44 lead heading into the final frame.

U of T continued to roll in the fourth and opened the game wide open with 10 consecutive points from Johnson.

Daniel Dooley led the Gryphons with 14 points in the loss.
