Box Score Fourth-year guard Reilly Reid delivered a career performance on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 28) as the University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's basketball team took down the visiting McMaster Marauders 65-57 at Goldring Centre for High Performance Sport.
With the win the Varsity Blues improve to 9-5 on the season and continue to secure their positioning as second place in the OUA East.
Scoring 15 of his career-high 22 points in the second half on an impressive 7-for-9 shooting from the field, Reid helped the Blues create a deficit the Marauders could not climb out of despite a late fourth quarter push.
As a team U of T also showcased a strong shooting performance finishing the afternoon with seven three-point field goals while shooting nearly 40 percent from the floor.
Fifth-year forward Devin Johnson finished the night just one rebound shy of a double-double, collecting 15 points and nine rebounds and third-year guard Sage Usher recorded seven points and seven rebounds.
Forward Connor Gilmore paced the Marauders with 19 points and seven rebounds.
The Varsity Blues now prepare for their annual school day game as they welcome the York Lions to the Goldring Centre next Friday, February 3. Tip off is scheduled for 1 p.m. with the game being streamed live on OUA.tv.
