BLUES FALL TO NO. 5 GAELS

Box Score The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's basketball team fell 86-63 to the undefeated No. 5 Queen's Gaels on Saturday evening (Jan. 14) in Kingston, Ontario.

With the loss the Varsity Blues drop to 6-6 on the season but remain in third place in the OUA East division.

A slow start from the Blues saw the Gaels jump out to a quick 22-9 first-quarter lead, utilizing a size advantage on both ends of the court to out-rebound Toronto 46-29 on the night.

U of T continued to fight through the tough battle inside the paint with leading scorer Rahshida Atkinson registering a game-high 24 points, but Toronto was unable to recover from the early deficit.

Varsity Blues second-year standouts Charlotte Collyer and Keyira Parkes chipped in 11 and 10, respectively.

Queen's forwards Andrea Priamo, Robyn Pearson, and Veronica Lavergne led the Gaels with 19, 15, and 13.

U of T now has a week to prepare for the Laurier Golden Hawks, who they challenge next Saturday, January 21 in Waterloo, Ontario. Tip off is set for 1 p.m. with the game being streamed live on OUA.tv.
