BASKETBALL TAKES CENTRE COURT DURING ALL-STAR WEEKEND

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's basketball team takes on the Ryerson Rams as a part of the 2016 NBA All-Star festivities this Sunday, February 14 at NBA Centre Court at Enercare Centre.

Tip off is set for 4:30 p.m. Tickets for the OUA showcase, which includes Saturday's women's game between Windsor and Queen's, are general admission with standard tickets costing $30, while child tickets (2-14) are $15.  Students wishing to watch the games can receive a $5 discount by using the promo code 5OFFOUA.  Tickets are on sale now at NBATickets.com or click here to buy tickets now.

Beginning Friday, Feb. 12, at 4 p.m. ET, NBA Centre Court at Enercare Centre will offer activities, skills competitions and programming on more than 40 courts and baskets. Fans will get a chance to participate in hands-on instructional clinics conducted by current and former NBA, WNBA and NBA Development League (NBA D-League) players, test their skills at the NBA Fan Combine, and meet and get free autographs from current and former players, mascots and dance teams. The three-day event will also include an NBA All-Star Shop, offering a wide selection of merchandise.

Friday night vs Algoma

The Varsity Blues men's and women's teams also host the Algoma Thunderbirds on Friday night at the Goldring Centre for High Performance Sport.

The women start the action at 6 p.m., with the men to follow at 8 p.m. Advance tickets are on sale here. Both games will be streamed live on OUA.tv.

Toronto's women will honour graduating athlete Abena Addo in a special post-game ceremony.

The Blues will look to bounce back following two losses to the Brock Badgers and Laurier Golden Hawks this past weekend.  Third-year guard Rahshida Atkinson leads the team, averaging 13.1 points per game.

U of T's men are 5-8 and also third in the East division, coming off a big 79-60 victory over Laurier. The Thunderbirds sit fourth in the West with a 3-11 record and are coming off two straight wins over Waterloo last weekend.

Fourth-year forward Devin Johnson ranks third in the province with 22.5 points and sixth with 7.7 rebounds per game.
