BLUES FALL TO NO. 1 RAMS ON NBA CENTRE COURT

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's basketball team dropped a 94-79 decision to the No. 1 nationally ranked Ryerson Rams as a part of the NBA All-Star Weekend celebrations at NBA Centre Court on Sunday afternoon (Feb. 14).

The Blues held their own in the first half, trailing by only three (27-24) after the first quarter and half (47-44). The Rams broke the game open in the third, outscoring the Blues 28-17 to build a lead that would not diminish. U of T ended the game on a high note, outscoring the East-leading squad 18-17.

Fourth-year forward Devin Johnson led all players with 19 points, while adding six boards and two assists. Fellow veteran forward Manny Sahota notched 12 points and five rebounds, with rookie guard Wilson Torres tallying 11 points and Daniel Johansson adding 10 points and six boards in the loss.

The Rams were led by Roshane Roberts and Ammanuel Diressa, who each notched 17 points. Four other Rams hit double digits in the victory. Kadeem Green had 13 points, while Filip Vujadinovic recorded 11 points. Adam Voll had 10 points, with Aaron Best adding a double-double of 10 points and 10 boards in the win.

The Varsity Blues return to action next Friday, February 19 when they head to Guelph to take on the Gryphons. Tip off is set for 8 p.m.
