Box Score The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's volleyball team fell in four sets Saturday evening (Nov. 5) to the Queen's Gaels in Kingston, Ontario. Set scores were 23-25, 25-23, 15-25, 23-25.
Exchanging the first two sets in closely contested matches, the Varsity Blues slipped up down the stretch as they began to struggle with service reception. U of T found some rhythm offensively heading into the fourth set technical timeout but Queen's would rally after the break to secure the victory.
Fourth-year left side Will Colucci proved to be an attacking force for U of T picking up 17 kills, one service ace, and 2.5 blocks for 20.5 points.
Veteran middle Zia Karim contributed 9.5 points on the night collecting eight kills and 1.5 blocks.
First-year setter Jordan Figueira finished the night with 34 assists.
The Varsity Blues will return to the Goldring Centre to challenge the Nipissing Lakers and rival York Lions next weekend (Nov. 12-13) with Sunday's contest with the Lions being streamed live on OUA.tv. First serve for both matches is scheduled for 4 p.m.
