ATKINSON LEADS BLUES OVER ALGOMA

Box Score Fourth-year guard Rahshida Atkinson recorded a season-high 26 points in leading the University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's basketball team to an 85-52 victory on Saturday night (Nov. 26) in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.
 
With the win, the Blues improve to 3-3 and remain in third place in the OUA East division.
 
As a team, U of T shot 47.5% from the floor and scored 33 points off turnovers.
 
Atkinson went 9-for-15 from the floor and 5-for-5 from the free throw line, while adding two rebounds, two assists and two steals on the night.
 
Fellow veteran Emily Piccini notched 12 points, three boards and three steals, while fifth-year forward Alanna Garner had nine points, three rebounds and two assists.
 
Diedre Edwards tallied eight points and a team-high five rebounds, with Maddy Baker and Charlotte Craig also adding eight points in the win.
 
Karly Fracalanze led the Thunderbirds with 10 points in the loss.
 
The Varsity Blues return to action this Wednesday, November 30 as they host the Windsor Lancers at Goldring Centre for High Performance Sport. Tip off is set for 6 p.m.
